Lomography

I have only developed two roles of film from my Diana. One was a pretty big fail but the second role turned out pretty nicely. It is quite silly how you have to have a flash for the photos to work properly indoors and obviously at night you need a flash as well. However they are $100, just as much as the actual camera so I am not too sure if I am going to get one. But.... the photos are very lovely and maybe it'd be worth it! The photographs shown above are some of my favourites. So far, my all time favourite is the one of the old man. he was just a random walking around at Busselton jetty. I asked him if I could photograph him because I thought what he was wearing was adorable and he fitted in with the nice scenery. I think he was rather flattered.

Summertime

Summer outings this year were so much fun. Most weekends we would either go to Blackwall Reach or Moore River and Jules would bring along his little video camera and record the action.

Hamelin Bay

Hamelin Bay is my favourite beach, I have only been there a few times because it is quite far from Perth, about a forty minute drive from Margret River. Each time I have been down there I have managed to get some great pictures. Last time I went the water was freezing as it was the end of Autumn. However, the time before I was able to swim there and it is really beautiful.

Road Trip

Richard and myself really wanted to make it down to Pemberton and Margret River before I left. We set off with no concrete plans . We had no place to stay, very little money and some very unpredictable weather. All of these difficulties made our trip so, so much fun! The first night we slept in the forrest in Margret River.. with no tent, just a couple of mattresses. We bought a big hunk of meat and Richard made a roast stand out of sticks from the bush. We sat around the fire and tended to the meat which turned out to be one of the yummiest things I have ever tasted. On the second day we drove down to Pemberton and climbed the 76 metre high Bicentenial tree. When we were at the top admiring the view and waving at the tiny people below us we made the impulsive decision that tonight we were going to sleep up this tree. We did not hesitate to make this happen, and the next thing we knew Richard was trecking it up the metal pegs with two pillows strapped to his back and a doona stuffed in his backpack! I was following close behind him with our stash of food for the night. That night was the coldest, most uncomfortable sleep of my life. However, watching the sunset and sunrise from 76 metres in the air was priceless and the thought that we could be the only ones in the world doing this particular thing made the experience 100% worth it.

One month to go...

I am planning to use this blog to record my journey with Cirque du Soleil, starting off in Montreal where I will be living and training at the Cirque headquarters for eight months. I leave for Montreal on  July 29th and I am ridiculously excited. However, I am very much enjoying my last few months in lovely Perth, I have been to some great places and spent a lot of time with my wonderful friends and family.
